NFFS joins letter calling for CRA resolution to nullify EPA's new PM2.5 standard

As part of manufacturers’ ongoing advocacy efforts to push back against the regulatory onslaught that is producing unworkable and onerous rules to govern industry, the National Association of Manufacturers is leading a sign-on letter calling on Congressional leadership to bring up for a vote two Congressional Review Act Resolutions (CRAs) that would disapprove of the EPA’s recently finalized standard for particulate matter (PM2.5).

EPA is setting the level of the primary (health-based) annual PM2. 5 standard at 9.0 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) to reflect new science on harms caused by particle pollution. This rule undermines industry’s ability to invest in local communities and will ensure permitting gridlock for years to come. It will hamstring U.S. economic growth, job creation and competitiveness—and it must be reversed.

Resolutions have been introduced in both the House and the Senate to role back the EPA PM2.5 rule via Congressional Review Act resolutions: S.J.Res. 65 was introduced by Minority Leader McConnell and H.J.Res. 117 was introduced by Rep. Rick Allen (R-GA).

The Non-Ferrous Founders' Society (NFFS) has joined the letter to Congress in calling for a vote on the CRA resolutions. Our Government Affairs Committee supports a role back on the PM2.5 regulations and will continue to track the resolutions and provide updates to the membership as they become available.
