Engaged with the influencers to the next generation!

About ASM Materials Camps for Teachers
ASM Materials Camps are nationally recognized programs designed to help high school educators bring the excitement of Materials Science into their classrooms. Developed with the University of Washington, Edmonds Community College, and supported by the National Science Foundation, these camps focus on hands-on exploration of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites.
A Special Opportunity for NFFS Members
This year, NFFS members have a unique opportunity to visit a Materials Camp for a day. By participating, you can:
- Share real-world insights about careers in non-ferrous metal casting and manufacturing.
- Build relationships with teachers who influence thousands of students.
- Help promote rewarding career paths in our industry to a new generation.
Why Your Involvement Matters
Materials Science naturally excites student interest because it connects to the materials they interact with every day. When teachers can show how Materials Science leads to real careers—especially in high-demand industries like non-ferrous foundry work—it makes learning even more meaningful.
Your engagement ensures that tomorrow’s workforce understands the importance and opportunities within the non-ferrous casting industry.
What Teachers Learn at Camp
Throughout the week-long program, teachers engage in:
- Hands-on labs and experiments with metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites.
- Project-based activities that teach students real-world applications of science and engineering.
- New curriculum ideas they can immediately implement in their classrooms.
When you visit, you’ll add an essential industry perspective to their learning, helping connect classroom lessons to real career pathways.
