About Craftsman with Character®
Craftsman with Character is a proven workforce development program that equips high school students with the skills, mindset, and character needed to succeed in the skilled trades — and in life.
Founded by Dave Hataj, president of Edgerton Gear and a second-generation gear manufacturer, the program was born out of a desire to rebuild the dignity of work and invest in the next generation of tradespeople. Craftsman with Character brings together educators, local employers, and community leaders to create real-world opportunities for students — while teaching timeless values like integrity, purpose, and responsibility.
What Makes It Different?
