The Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS), through the leadership of its Government Affairs Committee (GAC), has joined a coalition letter supporting congressional efforts to improve the implementation framework of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The letter, coordinated through the American Alliance for Innovation (AAI), will be sent to leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee as Congress considers legislative updates to the program.

The coalition represents a broad cross-section of manufacturing organizations that rely on a predictable and workable chemical regulatory system to support innovation, maintain supply chains, and sustain economic growth.

The letter expresses support for the Committee’s efforts to strengthen TSCA implementation in several key areas, including ensuring timely and predictable reviews of new chemicals, avoiding regulatory delays that discourage the adoption of innovative and sustainable materials, maintaining a risk-based approach to regulating chemicals based on intended use, clarifying statutory exemptions for replacement parts enacted in 2016, and improving transparency and accountability in EPA decision-making.

The coalition also highlights the importance of reauthorizing EPA’s TSCA fee authority so the agency has the resources necessary to carry out its statutory responsibilities while maintaining appropriate congressional oversight.

NFFS joined the letter to help ensure the perspectives of nonferrous foundries are represented as policymakers consider improvements to the TSCA framework. Foundries rely on a wide range of chemical inputs in their production processes and benefit from a regulatory system that is both protective and predictable.

NFFS appreciates the leadership of the Government Affairs Committee in identifying opportunities for the Society to engage constructively on issues affecting our members and the broader nonferrous foundry industry.
