A Membership Benefit You Can Put to Work Today

The Mary & Louis Iannettoni Memorial NFFS Scholarship Program is not just a scholarship. It is a direct, tangible benefit of NFFS membership. It exists because NFFS members invest in the Society, and it is designed to return that investment by supporting the people who power member foundries every day.

Unlike broad, open scholarships, this program is intentionally structured to benefit NFFS member companies. Scholarship funds are reserved for individuals who are connected to member foundries and who are actively building the skills, credentials, and experience our industry needs. When members use this program, they are turning membership dues into a practical workforce development tool.

The scholarship supports multiple education and career pathways. Engineering students are welcome and encouraged to apply, but the program is equally intended for incumbent workers continuing their education, co-op and intern students gaining hands-on experience, and individuals enrolled in technical schools, trade programs, community colleges, or universities. This flexibility reflects the reality of today’s workforce and the many ways people enter and advance within non-ferrous manufacturing.

To further reinforce its role as a member benefit, all applicants are now required to include a recommendation from an active NFFS member. This requirement ensures that scholarship awards stay closely tied to member companies and to individuals members believe demonstrate strong work ethic, commitment, and long-term potential. It also places ownership of the program where it belongs, with the members themselves.

NFFS provides the structure, administration, and funding for the scholarship, but members drive its impact. By identifying candidates, encouraging applications, and providing recommendations, members use the scholarship to support retention, strengthen engagement, and reinforce clear career pathways within their organizations. Few membership benefits offer this level of direct, person-to-person impact.

The application deadline is April 20, 2026. We encourage members to take time now to review your employees, interns, and student connections and decide who you want to support. A short conversation and a recommendation can make a meaningful difference for someone balancing work, education, and career growth.

This is a benefit your NFFS membership already provides. Use it to invest in your people, strengthen your foundry, and help shape the future of non-ferrous metalcasting.
