The Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Wiese as Director of Technical Services, a newly established leadership role designed to strengthen the Society’s technical capabilities and deliver direct, measurable value to member foundries.

Ian joins NFFS with more than 15 years of experience across the nonferrous metalcasting industry, bringing a rare combination of technical depth and operational leadership. His background spans executive management, metallurgical leadership, and production operations, including service as President and Chief Technology Officer of a nonferrous foundry. He has also held key roles as Chief Metallurgist for an international organization and Production Control Manager for a brass extrusion operation, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the full metalcasting and downstream manufacturing value chain.

Beyond his industry experience, Ian has demonstrated a strong commitment to education and professional development. He previously served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Northwestern University, contributing to the development of future engineers and materials professionals. He has also been actively engaged in industry leadership, including service on the NFFS Board of Directors and participation in the Copper Development Association’s Alloys and Standards Committee.

Ian’s appointment represents a significant step forward in NFFS’s strategic evolution—from a traditional trade association to a more integrated, solutions-driven organization. By investing in technical leadership and structured problem-solving capabilities, NFFS is positioning itself—and its members—to address the most pressing production challenges facing the industry today.
