Sheila Rayburn presenting at the 2022 Tech ReviewOn August 17–18, 2022, NFFS participated in the 2022 American Metalcasting Consortium (AMC) Technology Review in Des Plaines, Illinois, an annual event designed to provide regular progress reports to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) illustrating how the AMC is assisting DLA in the rapid procurement of high performance, cost-effective cast parts.

At the Tech Review, Sheila Rayburn, ICON Program Manager for NFFS, provided an update on the Society’s Integrated Casting Order Network (ICON) program and the positive impact the program has had on the domestic supply chain and availability of defense related cast metal components.

Early feedback from the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel, responsible for scoring AMC projects, indicates very high marks for ICON, including 5 out of 5 points for addressing “Needs & Benefits”, 4.6 out of 5 in program “metrics”, 5 out of 5 points for “progress” against the program plan, 4.8 out of 5 points for “Leveraging” the work done in previous contracts and relating to other DLA programs and efforts. Overall, ICON scored 4.8 out of 5 available points from the JDMTP metals subpanel. Congratulations to Sheila and the entire ICON program team for another strong performance review.
