The American Metalcasting Consortium is a collaborative effort between the Non-Ferrous Founders' Society (NFFS), the American Foundry Society (AFS), the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA), and the Steel Founders' Society of America (SFSA) created to assist the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) with direct support in the procurement of critical cast metal parts for both new and legacy weapon systems.

Annually, the AMC conducts a Technology Review meeting to provide updates to the DLA Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) metal subpanel, charged with evaluating the efforts of AMC and the program's effectiveness in assisting DLA with procuring the required cast metal components on behalf of the American warfighter.

The 2023 American Metalcasting Consortium (AMC) Technology Review was held as a virtual event on Thursday, August 17, 2023.  JDMTP Metals Subpanel Secretary Walter Roy said, it was an “excellent meeting” and congratulated AMC for a “great job with the review.”

The ICON program received the #1 overall ranking of all projects reviewed, with a combined score of 4.6 out of a possible 5 points awarded. The average JDMTP score for all projects reviewed was 4.4 out of 5

ICON is an award winning technology portal that drives orders for cast metal components to foundries with the required tooling or the required material/process capabilities on a daily basis. ICON has directed more that $332 million in contract award to ICON users since 2018. Learn more at icon.nffs.org.

Congratulations to NFFS staff member and ICON program manager Sheila Rayburn on the exceptional performance at this year's review. Next year’s in-person AMC Technology Review will be June 12-13, 2024, in the Chicago O’Hare area.
