On April 1st, the Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS) announced its decision to expand the Society’s membership beyond foundries to include companies providing “products or services for use in the manufacture of non-ferrous metal castings,” such as equipment suppliers, consumable suppliers, technology companies, additive manufacturing firms, and the countless others who contribute to the successful manufacturing of non-ferrous metal castings.

Foundry suppliers can now join NFFS under a new category called Associate Membership and receive access to the benefits of membership, with the exception of the ability to have a representative on the Board of Directors. In addition, recognizing that the needs and interests of the industry’s suppliers will be different than those of a foundry, a new menu of benefits specifically tailored to suppliers has been introduced—see page 2 of this newsletter or go to for a full list. Membership dues for suppliers are $1,350 per year or $375 per quarter.

The announcement of the new Associate Member category comes after the completion of a comprehensive review of available membership categories and the needs of the non-ferrous metal casting industry. A revision to the Society’s bylaws enabled the creation of the new Associate Membership category. The bylaws revision was authorized by the NFFS Board of Directors in October 2018, and subsequently, approved by a majority vote of members present at the NFFS 2018 Industry Executive Conference.

Jerrod Weaver, Executive Director of NFFS, commented, “The NFFS Board of Directors is excited to introduce an expanded membership eligibility program for the Society. The Board was right in recognizing that companies who support non-ferrous foundries are part of the non-ferrous casting industry. It is in our collective interest, foundries and supporting organizations alike, to work collaboratively in pursuit of our common goals. This membership category expansion provides the necessary framework for the Society to do just that.”

NFFS is now accepting applications for Associate Membership. To submit an application online, or to download a printable application form, go to
