ABOUT PUERTO RICO

Language: Spanish and English are both official languages of Puerto Rico.

Cell Phones: Your U.S. cell phone will work on the island, and you can expect good reception in tourist areas. If you plan to venture off-site, reception may become spotty as you move toward the interior of the island.

Time Zone: Puerto Rico follows Atlantic Standard Time (which is the same as Eastern Daylight Time during the month of October).

Weather: Puerto Rico has a tropical climate. In October, the average high is 86°F, and the average low is 76°F. The ocean temperature is a balmy 84°F, the warmest it will get all year. October is also rainy season, so expect high humidity.

Attire: Recommended conference dress is “resort casual” for all events, so dress for comfort. Be sure to pack a sweater or light jacket, in case conference rooms are chilly, as well as an umbrella and/or rain jacket.

Hurricane Recovery: Still have questions about the status of Puerto Rico’s infrastructure, services, or attractions? Check out www.status.pr or puertoriconow.seepuertorico.com for up to date information.
